Major Markets

Aotea, Avondale, Glebe, Paddington, Newtown, Camden, Portobello... They are all Markets that I have frequented over my years so far. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love a good shop and nothing quite beats the vibes of the inner city 'markets'. The mixed enriched fusions of people, colours, cultures, cuisines, to name a few come together in the weekend to enlighten the greater world of the gems they have to trade.

I completely adore the Glebe Markets in Sydney's Inner West, located in the front yard of Glebe Point Road Primary School. As you walk down Glebe Point Road you can smell the sweet aroma of the amazing roasted macademia nuts and caramelised almonds calling you to their stand located at the entrance gates. You have NO choice but to walk in and have a look. Once inside you are greeted with friendly smiles and a vast array of peoples from all walks of life. Tourists, locals, designers, artists, children, students, buddhists, realists to mention a bunch. Inside, I go searching for little finds that I know I can get on the 'cheap', beautiful vintage pieces and/or one off's that distinguish me from the 'chainstore or shopping mall' crowd. It is the place many young designers start out, get experience and develop street cred before and/or in conjunction with flagship stores and websites. It is a must see Sydney site!!
