Alex.Rodin

I became familiar with Alex Rodin's artwork while myself and two of my friends stumbled across his work when we went to visit the infamous 'Tacheles' building in Berlin last year in the 'Jewish Quarter'.
Such a hip place, can't say I've been anywhere like it. I feel privileged that I was able to see this amazing area as I believe it is in the process of being shut down; a terrible loss to society, and more so to Berlin's uniqueness and art culture.

When we entered Tacheles, straight away were greeted by a couple of intoxicated boys asking us to join them around, we politely declined and proceeded inside. They were laughing at this blow up doll which apparently was 'mocking' the government which was the reason behind of the closing of this area.

We continued up many flights of stairs, basically in awe of all the crazy graffiti work and busyness of it all. My eyes and head were moving crazily in every direction, to soak up all that was being portrayed. There was murals dominating certain sections, stickers, quotes and random words all over the show. Various colours slapped across old metal railings and crusting walls. Truly is an unbelievable sight to see.

At the very top of the building was Alex Rodin's art space. I completely adore his work, so much so that I even brought two pieces. The silly thing is that I was back-packing around Europe and had about four more weeks of my travels left still. So against my better judgement, I carried them everywhere with me and they made it back to Auckland in one piece, albeit a crinkled piece, but always a treasured piece. Below is one of the two designs I purchased.

Holiday comedown

I haven't written on here for a while, mind you I did go to Vancouver, BC for a month (also had a four day rendezvous with LA) too.

Boy oh boy did I have a fabulous trip to North America! Spent quality time with my Canadian family and did a lot of shopping in LA. Went to Six Flgs amusement park, the zoo and also Zip-Tracked in Whistler. Was funtimes indeed.

Been back in Sydney for nearly 3 weeks now and the holiday comedown is finally beginning to subside. Though, it has been pretty full on the last few weekends. Ive had birthdays, friends visiting from New Zealand and music gigs.

Life is good... Next trip India January 2012. WOW.
